Malak Music:
locked in my own head.

Self Judgement is a Prison
Malak is an old and very close friend. I saw her over coffee and she made me listen to a song she’s been working on (which ended up being the one we worked on together). I immediately felt it. I felt the imprisonment, the self judgement, and the self sabotage. So I thought to myself, “why not shoot it in an actual prison?” So I worked on the concept that day, and we had a shot list. The budget was tight but we were adamant on making it happen the way we had envisioned it. I wanted her to be trying to connect her free and artistic self with the one she imprisoned in her mind.
