In a box of colours, all of them matter. There comes a time for every drawing when you need a particular colour. What would happen if there’s a colour that’s absolutely forbidden to use? Say you need to paint a sunset but you’re not allowed to use any yellow or red or orange. Or a forest with no green or brown or blue. Or a funky sky with no pink (reference to my article from a few days ago - Link in bio). This is why #alllivesmatter #blacklivesmatter. Stop #racism. Stop #bullying. Think about it yourselves. Teach it to your kids. Enough bigotry. And always support others especially when they are at a disadvantage. If you don’t speak up when you see oppression, you become an oppressor. When you don’t act when you see bullying, you become a bully. Think about that.

We are all woven and interwoven together to create the mesh of any society. If one part falters, we all break loose. If you don’t stand with the oppressed, you side with the oppressor. And let’s think of the issue in a broader sense: it’s not about black lives only, it’s about bullying and managing and accepting differences. #BlackLivesMatter #Bullying

In a box full of Legos, all of them matter equally. The earlier we educate ourselves and our children that we are all equally important at our cores, the better we are as a society. We are not equal equal because that would make us all tasteless. But we are all equally important, equally unique, equally interesting. The earlier we educate ourselves and our children that standing up for others who may be weaker or more vulnerable makes us stronger and much cooler. #BlackLivesMatter is just a trigger to open a box of shit that society has been hiding for a thousand years. Anyone who is different is sidelined (unless you’re lucky or have some kind of solid support system to help you stand up for yourself). It happens in schools, at work, and in life. This shit has to end. It’s a good opportunity to tell your children that our differences are what truly make us unique. Being black is one thing, but so is being fatter or thinner than others want you to be, taller or shorter.. bullying is unacceptable by all means. “Kind people are my kinda people.” Sorry for the very cliche quote at the beginning of this caption, but keep reading. I have a point - promise. Meet Dancing Queen. A mare who is referred to as being so “mare-y”. When I first met her, she was very hormonal- she had a tough temperament, and used to kick and bite whenever she got a chance. Her ears were always pointing backwards when someone came near her (a sign of a horse being aggravated) and she was even put on oral hormone therapy because she was hard to handle, and was sometimes dangerous to herself and/or other people and horses. But I liked her a lot. I saw something special in this hard-to-handle mare. To me, she was fresh and refreshing; she had blood. So I started talking to her every day. We developed a profound friendship. It may seem crazy, but you should really see DQ now. When I pass by her paddock, she trots to me and lowers her head so I can pet her face or kiss her forehead. People who know her from before are vexed by the changes in her personality. Simply: I was/am kind to her, and this trust makes her reciprocate and appreciate it. Throughout my trip (and life), I have met people who seemed very kind, but did not act so kindly. We all have issues, but kindness is a different story. And I met others whom I expected to be hard, but ended up being super soft, super giving, and super super kind. Reminds me of something my cousin told me a few years ago - it was written in her daughter’s kindergarten: “if you can be any thing, be kind.” Hiw true is that? This is what everything boils down to: being kind to yourself, to others, to nature, and to everything and everyone around you. We all fuck up, screw up, and make countless mistakes. But kindness is what truly prevails. I wouldn’t go so much as calling myself a kind person - I can’t get myself to claim such things - but when I treated DQ with empathy and care, love and respect, she transformed before my eyes. This is what happened with a furry friend. Imagine how amazing life would be if we all treated humans (and nature and animals) with kindness and respect. Just imagine. And maybe consciously be a little bit kinder today ✨✨

I want to keep this memory alive: thank you guys for always doing special things and always making me feel at home. So my friends threw a dinner party/feast to celebrate the fact that I fasted for a month. And at the beginning of the month when my friends and family back home were all having iftar together, we had dinners together here and they got me chocolate and a card. This year, Ramadan was actually different and fun. Made me able to take a step back and see why I’m doing this and whether I want to keep on doing it. I’m not a fan of taking things for granted at all so seeing things from a bird’s eye view was very useful. Fasting felt great (albeit being exhausting) and it was definitely rewarding this year. Now I can go back to leading a relatively normal life. I’ll have breakfast tomorrow, and we can have lunches, snacks, and drink water and have coffee! Just wanted to post this here so I don’t forget what the food was like yesterday. Pulled off a complete business lunch while I was fasting, and when I tried it (the meeting lasted for 8 freaking hours - mesh 3aref khales konna ben2ool eih!!), but the food was out of this world. Possibly the best meal I’ve had in my life. Cheese platter. Salad: mixed greens, ricotta, caramelised walnuts, figs I picked from the garden + ginger lemongrass dressing. Pistachio crusted salmon with grapefruit sauce. Creamy mashed potatoes with cheddar and truffle oil. Broccolini and asparagus smothered in honey + granulated Dijon mustard sauce. Dessert: key lime pie (family recipe), honeycomb from the honey farm across the street, berries, figs and passion fruit from the garden. I’ve always wanted to open my house in the evenings for a few people to come dine with me on some nights - get to know new people over a good dinner. I cook for myself every day/night, so I may as well have a few friends and/or strangers over. I feel like it’s a restaurant but with a really homey feel - no commitments though, I’ll open the days I’m available/offering dinner reservations for maybe 4-5 people at a time. And I wouldn’t want it to grow beyond that. It’s not a restaurant; it’s not a job. It’s just a cosy, chic setting, when I feel like it. So I don’t know, maybe one day I’ll have the physical and mental space to do this - all after corona obviously because I won’t get random people in my house with all this going on. My take on the #mirrorselfie.

I didn’t post these pictures earlier simply because I didn’t know which ones to choose. The past two months have been incredible for me. I moved into @carolineprice_’a home and I was like one of the family. Katrina really taught me everything I know about caring for horses, and it was so wonderful being with @livprice_equestrian and @georgiaprice_aus and seeing them every day. They say you don’t really know the value of a moment until it becomes a memory. In my case, this wasn’t true. I valued every moment, and cherished every memory as it was happening. I enjoyed every meal we had together, and I love the horses, the dogs, and the cats so much. I’ll never forget Lexi (the black Dalmatian) smiling at me with all her teeth every time she saw me, nor how Elizah hugged me when I came into the house - nor how they busked for food at every meal. I’ll never forget Batman’s personality, or how Oscar always goes under the wheels of the buggy every morning. So many things I love about this place, I don’t know how to put them all here 😃 1165 Wellington Road has been great to me. From waking up at 5am to feed the horses and muck out the stables, to selling horse poo down the drive, to actually giving me the master bedroom (they gave me the second floor of their house - that’s how welcome they made me feel). All the way to Georgia’s dark humour and Liv’s cheekiness and all how she gets away with devilish things all the time. I was lucky enough to have a family away from my family and a home away from home. These memories will be with me forever as I am forever a changed person because of this fun experience. Despite its shortness, it has deep roots within me. And in this post, I also want to remember my good friend @marcushume67 who’s so much fun. The cool cars, and the friendly, lively personality - gave me a lot of motorvation right there 😉 There’s always more to any moment and any situation than what meets the eye. So I’m quite sure this isn’t the end of it, but rather the beginning of a lifelong friendship and connection. Thank God for social media and internet connectivity in times like these. I’m blessed. I’m very grateful. I’m looking forward to what’s next! 🖤✨
